At Athlete Journey, GB rowers help young athletes have the conversations they wish they could have had.
The Gap
Elite private schools have alumni networks, dedicated rowing staff, and access to guidance on US recruitment, training pathways, and life as an athlete. Grassroots clubs rarely have any of that.
The talent is the same. The information isn't. We're here to fix that by giving your athletes access to honest conversations with someone who's already walked the path.
“Rowing changed my life. I was very lucky to stumble across some of the opportunities that rowing opened up for me. I don't want anyone else to miss out on incredible opportunities.”
Miles Beeson, Founder, GB rower
For Clubs
Nominate. Match. Inspire. Three steps from your boathouse to a GB-level conversation.
01
Club coaches nominate the athletes who would benefit most. A short form, no bureaucracy, done in under a minute.
02
We match each athlete with the right GB-level mentor based on their goals, background, and rowing pathway.
03
Athletes schedule a video conversation and get perspective and honest advice from someone who has already walked the path they are dreaming about.

The Mentors
Our mentor pool is drawn from the men's and women's Great Britain senior squads, rowers who have lived the pathways your athletes are working towards. Every mentor is vetted by our team and committed to honest and focused conversations.
Contrary to popular knowledge, most senior team athletes came from grassroots clubs rather than private schools, and they want to give back and help change the elitist narrative around rowing.

Safeguarding
Every conversation is mediated so your duty of care stays intact.
No email addresses or phone numbers are shared between mentor and mentee.
Explicit age confirmation and parental notification at signup, in line with UK Sport requirements.
All messages are reviewable by our safeguarding team. Users are told this at signup and in our T&Cs.
Every admin action affecting a mentee record is logged.
Every mentor is vetted and approved by our team before taking a single session.
Minors-first data minimisation, a plain-English privacy policy, and the right to be forgotten honoured.
For Sponsors
At just £30 an hour, mentorship is one of the most cost-effective ways to open up rowing. You can help make it happen, supporting GB athletes on the road to their Olympic dreams, and giving valuable mentorship opportunities to young athletes.

Founder
3× U23 World Champion. Senior World Championships silver medallist. European champion. Yale graduate. Founder of Feather & Square.
Miles started rowing at Aberdeen Schools Rowing Association, a successful local club run mostly by volunteers with no pipeline to US universities or the GB senior team.
By getting lucky and stumbling into the right conversations at the right time, Miles was able to realise the potential of where rowing could take him.
Athlete Journey exists to ensure all young athletes have access to the information that can help rowing open doors to pursue their full athletic, academic, and personal potentials at every level.
